My passion is in empowering women through pelvic floor health techniques. I have been a pelvic floor specialty PT for 20+ years. Again, my focus is movement. Learning how to use the musculature that supports pelvic floor health is critical for teenage athletes, childbearing years, postpartum and menopausal stages of life.
Additionally, I gently guide clients to a place of reduced anxiety during times of mental health stress. Movement compliments mental health, providing calm and clarity. Breath work and learning how to bring the right kind of movement into one's life requires a gentle balance that isn't always obvious. Too much of one can create a state of heightened anxiety. Allow me to guide you down the right path to self-care.
I have also become acutely in tune with the current work-from-anywhere trend. The ergonomic challenges of using multiple electronics have multiplied exponentially for those now working or studying remotely from dining room chairs, cushy club chairs, beds, couches, beaches, camper vans . . . you name it!
Our heads are bent forward and our entire spines are assuming an unnatural curved posture of flexion. Reversible? YES! But only if we act now and start changing behaviors. This applies not only to the workforce, but also to students, children of the covid era, retirees assuming new lifestyles, and all of us who are facing a future that will be more and more digitized.
As a physical therapist, I offer treatment for bodies as well as ergonomic solutions for work and study stations. Posture and positioning, technique, environment and lifestyle must be addressed together, with the goal of prevention.
Prevention of work-related discomfort and injury results in higher productivity, fewer interruptions to daily life and sleep, increased energy and improved recovery. This all translates into a healthier, happier lifestyle and overall decrease of insurance claims due to fewer practitioner visits.
